Lifeline Terms and Conditions

Program Information

Lifeline is a federal program that offers a monthly benefit of up to $9.25 towards phone or internet services for eligible subscribers (up to $34.25 for those living on Tribal lands).

Qualification Criteria

Subscribers must meet qualification criteria to participate in the Lifeline Program.  Eligible criteria includes:

Participation by a subscriber or someone in the subscriber’s household in one of the following programs:

• Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps
• Medicaid
• Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
• Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
• Tribal Assistance Programs:

• • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
  • Head Start (only households meeting the income qualifying standard)
  • Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF)
  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations

• Income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FY 2025 information below)

Additional documentation regarding program participation or income verification may be required.

Subscribers can qualify for the program by applying at: http://www.getinternet.gov/.

One non-transferable Lifeline benefit (internet or phone) is available per household.  Household is defined as those who live together sharing income and expenses.  Lifeline is a government program.  Providing false or fraudulent information may result in de-enrollment or being barred from the program.  The United States government can also take additional actions against you including but not limited to fines or imprisonment.
