FlashFiber adds new areas and more subscribers

FlashFiber progress mapFlashFiber continues to make progress in building its lightning-fast fiber network by opening up new areas to Joe Wheeler EMC members.

FlashFiber mapFlashFiber opened its second zone in November, giving more than 300 more members access. The initial zone opened in September and October, offering 2,000-plus members access to the network.

Currently, over 270 miles of fiber optic cable have been installed, and more than 300 members are subscribers. With the addition of Zone 2, over 2,400 members now have access to FlashFiber.

“We have made great progress in the last several months, and that is exciting,” says Joe Wheeler EMC CEO George Kitchens. “Our crews have been working extremely hard to serve as many members as possible, and there is more progress to be made in the coming months.”

In December, the third zone will be activated, and at the beginning of 2022, FlashFiber will begin serving Moulton. Once FlashFiber reaches Moulton, more than 3,000 members will have access to the fastest internet speeds available.

If you live in the Moulton area, be sure you have preregistered at jwflash.com. Once service becomes available, you will receive an email with instructions on how to place your order and schedule your installation date.

If you live in Moulton and have not preregistered, you are encouraged to do so quickly. Currently, all new subscribers will receive free installation and an Amazon Fire TV Stick. However, these offers will only be available for a limited time.

If you are not sure if you will be served in any of these first three zones, go to our homepage, enter your address, and complete the short survey to preregister and learn if service is available in your area. Be sure that you complete the entire registration process so that your address is recorded. Once pre-registered, you will be added to a list and will receive email updates on construction progress and what areas will be coming online.

If you don’t reside in any of these areas, we still want to hear from you. Be sure that you have preregistered so we know about your interest.

“While work has progressed rapidly, we do understand that many still need access to quality internet,” Kitchens says. “We are working each day to build and bring this service to as many members as possible. FlashFiber will change our area for the better, and we appreciate our members’ patience as we work to bring this valuable service to them.”
